Fairs

Its been a long time since i've updated the blog and i have decided to puss myself and make a new years resolution to update this every week. How rubbish am i but with craft fairs, life and the kids time has overtaken me and  we are now into the week before christmas. I've attended a few craft fairs recently and met some lovely people. We attended a vintage craft fair in liverpool and because this is  quite a distance from where we live i was slighty reluctant but still really excited about attending. To my surprise it was a fantastic lovely relaxing atmosphere and the people who ran the fair were very friendly and welcoming. This has got to be one of the best fairs i have attended for a number of reasons, and to my surprise we sold quite a few items and did a lot of networking. Its interesting to know that by jumping into the deep end you can swim very well. The 2 lovely ladies who ran this event, Ness and louise made me feel very chilled and i felt as though i have known them for a long time. This along with selling many of our products made for a very good day. The only downfall of the day was my sat nat freezing on the way and we ended up in the centre of liverpool (STUPID SAT NAV)
So anyway i will be attending more fairs run by Ness and louise and if you follow me on facebook you will find deatils of their organisation. I will update with details of their next events

Time to get sorted

Its been a while since i blogged so i thought it was about time that i did. It's been a mad few months and now its nearing the end of September everyone is beginning to think about Christmas. AAAArrrrrrhhhhhhhh   Christmas comes around way too fast. This year i need to be organised. I am hoping to try and organise myself to do some craft fairs but i know how hopeless i have been this year and my organisation skills leave a lot to be desired. While typing i am trying to stop my baby from eating the laptop, so as you probably can tell now i have my hands full. I have been experimenting (in my somewhat free time) with crocheting and jewellery so i am hoping to showcase all this too. We have set up a website for our jewellery and so far have had only a small amount of interest. This is mainly due to my lack of promotion. I NEEEEEEEDDDD to get organised.. So my motto for today, yes you've guessed is GET ORGANISED!!!!!!!

Wedding Dress

So here are the pictures of the wedding dress I made for my friend. It took a while but i got there in the end. As you can see my friend is not the traditional bride and choose to have a gold skirt with a maroon bodice (which had sequined flowers on the side). I felt very honoured to make her dress and the final product was well worth waiting for. Considering this was my first wedding dress i am really pleased with the outcome. I've been dressmaking for 20 years now and so far have really concentrated on making for myself and my family so this was a challenge. I really enjoyed making this dress and hopefully it has now given me the confidence to expand my horizons. Let me know what you think, please leave a comment. Oh yes to top it off  realised on the Friday that myself and my 9year old didn't have anything to wear so i made a couple of dresses, and my 16 year old made her own too.

My friends Wedding dress

OK so its been a busy few weeks and i have completely neglected my blog. I have been busy making my best friends wedding dress and although this has been a challenge it has been a pleasure and honour to do so. When we first discussed the ideas it seemed quite an easy task. Having had 20 years sewing experience and have made bridesmaids, carnival and prom dresses in the past i thought it shouldn't be too hard. But after deciding on a design the next task was to get a pattern, material and accessories. So off we went on a dress hunt. In the end we decided on a corset top with a full ruffled skirt. My friend decided she didn't want to be traditional bride so we set about finding the right colour material. After many change of minds we set  on a maroon embroidered corset with a gold taffeta skirt. So the project began. Keep watching for photos and more

The start of the holidays

So here we are at the beginning of the summer holidays. 6 weeks of trying to entertain 5 children and working on my products. As you can imagine our household is a bit manic, but that's the life i chose and i wouldn't change a thing. I might change the arguments when one of my darling daughters fights with her sister because she said she could borrow that top last week but not this week. Each one of my daughters have completely different personalities so trying to amuse them all at the same time and a baby boy (6 months old) is very interesting. Saturday we decided to go to the cinema which again was an interesting scenario because they all had different ideas of what to go and watch. Eventually we decided on the new shrek (which i admit was a good choice. But that was a one off treat. We spent a fortune on just watching the film (that doesn't include eats). Sunday was a lazy day, we just hung around the house, garden and my older ones, computer. Today is a new week and i am considering setting up the tent in the garden so they can play holidays.
Back to work for now but will speak soon.

Prom

Ok so its been a while and for that i'm sorry. I have had a manic few weeks, first i had quite a few orders to sort out then my eldest daughters Prom to finish. So as you can imagin last week was very hectic. My eldest finally finished school so we completed her prom dress to wear last wednesday then fortunatly because she was in the school band she was able to wear her dress again on the thursday night. It was a very emotional week and my baby is no longer a baby anymore. So here is a picture of her in the prom dress. Its my daughters design (off to college to take fashion) and I made it.Lots of sweat and tears went into making the dress.
Today i had sports day and with the lovely british summer it rained. Today was the juniors turn, monday was the infants. My youngest came 2nd in the egg and spoon race and my older daughter came 2nd in the running race. My other daughter is having her sports day ar high school but us oldies are not allowed to watch. I love sports day but its amazing to see how many mums and dads are soooooo competitive. I am now nursing a headache from all the shouting. Its quite funny to watch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway enough for now so take care and lots of love

That monday feeling!!!!

What a fantastic monday it is. Usually the monday blues sets in but for us this week it is a completely different story. I started the day with a lovely brisk stroll through the village where i live. The sun was shinning, birds were singing and the weather was warm. With my meditation music on i pondered the week ahead. Once i got back home i set to work on my website (its a big job). I came across a notice for a chance to win a free listing on a new sister website to thisladyloves.com. I applied and won!!!!! So watch out for our advertisment on thiskidloves.com. Next which was the best news for me, the rest of my certification for my skincare products finally came through. This now means i can officially start selling the rest of my products. Everything is finally coming together. Its a fab feeling. Tomorrow i will start taking more pictures so i can publish them. Watch this space...............

School Hols

We are now half way into half term and the children are bored already. We have done crafts, crafts, played with toys been for walks and watched movies but they are still bored. Is there only so much you can do?????
So today i have decided the children can entertain themselves (garden it is then) so i can upload pictures, make more items and chase up certain things i have left this week.
Yesterday was fun, the girls decided to play with clay and make some lovely items. Unfortunatly they will take a very long time to dry, but maybe i have budding art clay designers. The weather looks like it will rain but a little rainwater never hurt anyone so wellies donned and in the garden it is.
Pictures of crafts will follow.
Have a good week

Weekend of fun

Hello all, sorry its been a few weeks since my last entry but i have been mega busy. The weeks have flown by and there is just not enough time in the day to do everything. I spent all last week decluttering my house and work space, what atask i hand that was. I think i must have cleared at least 30 bin bags of recycling and the place now feels more calmer. Saturday, Yesterday and today have been spent so far being creative. I will post the pics later. This week with the children all being off school i have got to try and entertain. My two oldest will carry on with their creative flair but my younger 2 girls get bored very easily so i think a few inspiring days out to the park are in order. Anyone with any ideas please let me know.
My two oldest have been creating their own jewelley range with polymer and have been hookied from the moment they started (in fact i could'nt get them to stop, even at 9pm)
So anyway, i will take pictures of finished products later and post. As for me i have been working on my make up range of holistic products which is going very well. I am hoping to start some craft fairs in a few weeks so will let you know.
Take care and enjoy whats left of the bank holiday

lots of love

New Venture

The days go by so fast and there is not enough time to do everything. Myself and my eldest daughters have begun making jewellery (although this is not a new venture because I have been making them since i was just a little girl). My daughters are very talented and have a lot of patience. They have fantstic ideas and imagination. They have begun selling their items to school friends who love their designs. I thought i would include a few picture of the ones we are selling. All i need to do now is to start booking craft fairs for the year. We have been concentrating on making our products, updating our blogs and updating the website. Its amazing just how much time this takes. I have lost 3 days by updating on the computer. Need to spend more time on me (teeheee yeah right!!!)
So take a look at the pics and let me know what you think

2nd blog

Well heres our 2nd blog. I'm frantically trying to organise myself so we can go to some craft fairs very soon, but being the mum of 5 (yes 5 i hear you say, NUTS) it can take some time to sort things out. My youngest is only 4 months old and very demanding so usually i get most of my work done when my oldest girls are home from school to help entertain my darling baby boy.
We did do a craft fair just before little darling was born and it was a great success, well sort of. We made a profit but had a very fun day and made loads of new friends. Networking was good also. Its amazing the things that you talk about to others at craft fairs. I had conversations about old age, singing, guitars and not forgetting beauty.

My 2 oldest girls have just begun making jewellery so they are both hoping to progress with this and i am giving them as much encouragment as possible. (watch this space)

Well this is a short and sweet one today but i will keep updating. Off to pick up the little darlings from school now, then hopefully this evening manage to get some work done.

Take care
This picture shows my daughter getting into the spirit of the fair

Thursday 29 April 2010

Welcome to our blog spot. This is our first time (ooooerrrrh) so here goes.

We are Berri nice products, we produce home made organic, natural holistic skin care products ranging from face and body care to hair care. We cater for all ages from baby to the elderly.

Berri nice was formed because I could not find skin care products that were natural and cheap at the same time. I qualified as an holistic therapist 4 years ago and decided that with my knowledge and time i must be able to create my own products. My two eldest daughters were keen for me to do this because as teenagers they suffer with sensitive and spotty skin, so the creativity began. So I started off just making products for myself and my daughters then not so long ago one of my daughters friends asked her if I could make some moisturiser for her. This then gave me the idea that i could begin to make products to sell as a small business.

All our products are made to order so are fresh and each one is made with only natural organic ingredients. I use NO chemicals and preservatives so all the products have a shelf life of no more than 6 months, but because of this they are only sold in small jars so none is wasted.

I will try and update this blog as much as possible so keep watching.

Thanks for looking
